When they arrived, the mom, 31-year-old Morgan Creel, told them her son was in the back bedroom.
The police found the baby unresponsive and noticed he was badly burned and discolored.
Creel told police she was trying to warm her son’s feet with a hair dryer but fell asleep. When she woke up, he wasn’t breathing, so she called 911.
Investigators believe Creel was under the influence of drugs when this happened. They found a marijuana pipe on the porch. The official charge says she caused her son extreme pain by leaving the hair dryer on near him while she was passed out from drugs.
Last October, Creel was arrested for drunk driving while she was out on bail for her son’s death. Police said she was driving erratically and was so intoxicated they couldn’t even do standard sobriety tests.
Creel was jailed in January but isn’t currently listed as an inmate. It’s not known if she has a lawyer.
