A 59-year-old off-duty detective was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head inside his home in Chicago on Friday, according to authorities.

Superintendent Larry Snelling shared the sad news with fellow officers, noting that the detective was part of the Area 2 Division.
“I ask that you keep his family, loved ones, and colleagues in your thoughts as they navigate this unimaginable loss,” he said. “Grief can be overwhelming as we try to process the loss of a fellow CPD member.”
Snelling also reminded officers that they can seek support from the CPD’s Employee Assistance Program and Chaplains Ministry.
