While soft lullabies played in the car, Angela fell asleep at the wheel. Their car then swerved off the road and tumbled 40 feet down a cliff into rocky terrain below.
Lexi was knocked unconscious in the crash. When she woke up, she found her mom unconscious over the steering wheel and her brother crying, and she was covered in scratches.
Realizing that their car was out of sight in a deep ravine and couldn’t be seen by passing drivers, Lexi did something remarkable for a child her size.
She was tightly strapped into a five-point harness car seat, which she had never escaped from before, but somehow, she managed to free herself. Then, barefoot, she climbed the steep, rocky cliff to the road above to find someone to help her family.
