Investigators think Clifford was approached at his home by someone claiming to have car trouble. Clifford’s daughter, Sabrina Vining, shared on Facebook that her father took her truck late Monday night to help jump-start someone’s vehicle.
When Clifford didn’t return home, his family became worried and contacted the police, the sheriff’s office reported.
Authorities said the incident may be connected to a stolen vehicle that was later found at an apartment complex near Prince Road and Roger Road in Tucson.
In a GoFundMe post, Vining described her father as “a gentle giant with a huge, caring heart.” She added, “I am at a loss for my mom and doing everything I can to support her during this time.” While hesitant to ask for help, she explained that her mother will need financial support after this tragic loss.
The investigation is ongoing. Police have not released information about a possible suspect or whether the person acted alone or with others.
