Hight was wanted for murder and gun-related charges in connection with the December 11 shooting of a 7-year-old boy inside a home on the Ute Mountain Ute Reservation in Towaoc, Colorado, according to the FBI.
Federal authorities issued a warrant for Hight’s arrest on December 19 and offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to his capture. Navajo police began searching for him in the Oljato area on December 21.
The FBI stated that the shooting appeared to be “targeted at a residence,” but further details about the incident have not been released.
The boy, identified as 7-year-old Zamias Lang, was remembered as a “bright and loving” child in a GoFundMe campaign created to help cover funeral expenses. The fundraiser described him as someone who was “taken from us far too soon” due to senseless gun violence. By December 27, it had raised $26,000.
It is not clear if Hight has entered a plea or hired an attorney to represent him.
