A Missouri man, Jeffrey Goedde, has been charged with first-degree murder after turning himself in and admitting to stabbing his father, Edward Goedde Jr., about 50 times.

He explained that his father, 75-year-old Edward, was unconscious in the kitchen of their shared home, bleeding from his face and back. He said he might have used a kitchen knife, other objects, and his hands during the attack but couldn’t clearly remember.
When police went to the home for a welfare check, they entered through a basement window and noticed a strong smell of bleach. Inside, they found Edward’s body face down on the kitchen floor. A kitchen knife was discovered in the trash can, about five feet away from the body.
An autopsy revealed that Edward suffered multiple traumatic injuries, including about 50 stab wounds, broken bones, strangulation marks, and blunt force trauma to his head, face, and back.
After being informed of the discovery, Jeffrey allegedly admitted he couldn’t leave because he had “accidentally killed someone.” He then requested a lawyer and declined to answer further questions.
Jeffrey remains in custody and has been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. A bond review is scheduled for Friday, and his preliminary hearing is set for January 16.
