According to the Calgary Herald, Ania’s brother, Peter, said the couple had a big argument on Christmas at her parents’ home. The fight began when the couple’s son wanted to sit next to his grandfather instead of his father.
Peter said, “He kept antagonizing his kid. He started pushing my sister away forcefully. I almost got into a fistfight with him.”
Benedict reportedly left the home before police were called. After the argument, Ania told her brother she was considering filing for a protective order against her husband.
A GoFundMe campaign was launched to support Ania’s children and her mother. The organizer wrote, “We are heartbroken to share the tragic passing of Ania Wardzala/Kaminski, a beloved mom, daughter, sister, and friend.
Ania’s dear children are now facing an unimaginable loss. In this devastating time, we seek to provide support and help these kids navigate their grief, ensuring they have the resources and care they need as they move forward without their mom.”
