A mother on TikTok had viewers laughing after sharing why her toddler told their doctor he “doesn’t feel safe at home.”

According to a survey from the University of Michigan of 726 parents, about half said their kids dislike going to the doctor. While most children fear getting shots or are anxious around strangers, that wasn’t the case for three-year-old son of TikTok user, kmenter6 (whose real name is Kama Menter). Her child surprised everyone with a very different story.
During a recent check-up, Menter’s son told the doctor he was scared at home because of someone named “Troy.” The doctor gave the family a concerned look. Menter’s son added that his five-year-old brother “has to protect him” and that he only feels safe hitting Troy around the house.
Who is Troy? As Menter revealed in a TikTok video seen over 6.5 million times, Troy is actually their robot vacuum cleaner, named after a character from the TV show Port Protection Alaska.
She assured the doctor by showing the iRobot app on her phone, proving that Troy was just an appliance.
Online comments showed that other parents have had similar funny experiences with their kids.
One viewer shared how their child told daycare they ate “dog food,” when really it was just a silly nickname for snacks. Another recalled their child claiming to lose sleep because “Steve” (the family dog) snuck into her bed.
For Menter, the whole situation highlights how kids can turn everyday moments into entertaining stories. She hopes people get a good laugh—and from the response on TikTok, it seems they certainly have.
