They stopped the truck. The driver said the officer and her dog could search the truck and that there was nothing illegal inside.
The passenger, 31-year-old Teryn Acri, had several bags with her.
One of the bags had the words “Definitely not a bag full of drugs” written on it. However, police found drugs inside.
Police found almost 8 grams of methamphetamine, needles, a drug overdose reversal medication called Narcan, scales, small plastic bags, cut straws, and other items used for drugs.
Ms. Acri was arrested and taken to jail. She is charged with having methamphetamine with the intent to sell it and with having drug paraphernalia.
Records show that Ms. Acri had been arrested just a few days earlier, on January 6th, in the same city. She was a passenger in another car that police stopped. A police dog signaled that there were drugs in the car. Police found seven small bags of suspected methamphetamine in Ms. Acri’s purse. She had a total of 14.5 grams of methamphetamine and was charged with drug trafficking, possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The sheriff mentioned that Ms. Acri was released on bail after her first arrest, even though she was initially held without bail. He expressed frustration that people accused of crimes are released on bail and then commit more crimes. He also said he’s tired of this happening and will talk about it more later.
