An ongoing investigation is underway after a hiker discovered human remains in different stages of decay along a well-known hiking trail in southwestern Utah last weekend.

“Washington City Police officers and Washington County Sheriff’s deputies quickly arrived at the scene and confirmed the presence of human remains, which appeared to have been there for a considerable time,” said the authorities.
Investigators determined that the remains were those of a male, but they have chosen not to release his identity at this time, citing respect for the family. They also mentioned that they do not suspect foul play in the death.
The case is still open as officials await further conclusions from the Medical Examiner’s office.
