Collin had been residing with his mother following the death of his father in 2023, who was shot in what was later deemed a self-defense case. Collin was initially arrested for his father’s death but was not charged after evidence supported his self-defense claim.
There was a documented history of intense arguments between Collin and his mother, and he had previously faced charges of domestic battery against her.
Bodycam footage released by Fox 4 shows Collin speaking to his grandmother after his arrest in November 2023. He stated, “I’m not a psychopath. I’m not this murderer. I’m just trying to peacefully leave or peacefully coexist.” He also claimed his mother had hit him during their arguments, a claim his grandmother contested.
Furthermore, the affidavit notes that about a year before his mother’s death, Collin expressed to a police officer that he felt unsafe at home, mentioning that he might “kill myself or my mom.”
