Though the school took down the video shortly after it was posted last year, it resurfaced recently and drew attention from figures like Musk. Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp labeled the video “deeply irresponsible” due to concerns about grooming gangs, stating it should never have been shared.
Former leader of the Welsh Conservatives, Andrew RT Davies, criticized Welsh Labour ministers for allegedly using children as propaganda, deeming it “highly inappropriate.” The WRC defended the video, stating its purpose was to foster positivity and inclusion, not to encourage migration.
They also expressed concerns about the spread of misinformation potentially threatening their staff and operations. The WRC reported Davies’ remarks to the Senedd’s Standards Commissioner.
Davies responded by acknowledging Britain’s tradition of aiding those in need but argued that involving schoolchildren in such messages is inappropriate.
The WRC clarified that it did not create the video but had shared it to showcase young people’s efforts to promote compassion and inclusion. The school and the WRC had removed the video and related content in 2023, but copies still circulate online.
