A woman from Florida, Terry Taylor, has been charged with second-degree murder following the death of her husband, Stanley Taylor, who succumbed to injuries reportedly inflicted by a cane that concealed an illegal blade.
On January 13, police were called to the Taylor home due to a medical emergency. Upon arrival, they discovered 67-year-old Stanley with a stab wound to his torso. Terry had urged neighbors to call the police, initially claiming that her husband had accidentally fallen on a knife during a diabetic episode... Continue reading here ▶
However, while receiving medical treatment, Stanley accused his wife of stabbing him and attempting to murder him. Terry later explained to the police that the couple had a heated argument over a stereo system sold to Stanley’s brother, which escalated into a physical altercation. She claimed that during the scuffle, Stanley “stabbed himself” after “blacking out.”
Terry also mentioned a struggle involving a wooden cane and another brass cane with a sharp point, which she demonstrated using in a swinging motion.
Investigators found the brass cane with a hidden 18-inch blade, which appeared to have been cleaned recently, though blood traces were still detectable. Cleaning supplies were found in the trash and on a couch, suggesting an attempt to tidy up the scene.
Medical tests indicated that Stanley was not undergoing a diabetic episode at the time, and he ultimately died from his injuries in the hospital, attributed to the stab wounds on his back.
Terry Taylor is now being held without bond at the Palm Beach County Jail, facing a charge of second-degree murder.
