A 25-year-old woman from North Carolina, who had cognitive impairments, disappeared after getting into an unfamiliar car, and police are now investigating her death.

Heather, who had limited speech due to her condition, was considered at risk. Tragically, six days later, on January 10, her body was found in a wooded area near Newark Ave. and State Ave. Now, her family is searching for answers.
Her sister, Mary Williams, told ABC 11, “When I woke up that Sunday, she wasn’t at home. We tried calling her, but her phone went straight to voicemail. That’s when we knew something was wrong.”
Heather’s cognitive impairments were caused by a 2015 accident, but despite her challenges, she worked hard to live a normal life. “She was loving, and she loved her family and Jesus,” Mary said.
Heather’s family was particularly concerned about her meeting people online due to her trusting nature. They believe she may have met the person who picked her up online. “She was so trusting and didn’t realize how dangerous people could be,” Mary explained.
After she didn’t return home, her family reported her missing. “Her being out alone at night was dangerous for her,” Mary added.
The news of Heather’s death devastated her family. “She loved life, was fearless, and cherished being with her family,” her sister shared. “Her faith in God never wavered.”
The family is pleading for anyone with information to come forward. “If you know anything, please speak up,” Mary said. “Someone out there knows what happened, and I pray they come forward so we can get justice for Heather.”
