An 18-year-old boy has died after the car he was in crashed into a sewage plant in Castleford, England. His body was found a short distance away from the partially submerged white Volkswagen Golf at the water treatment facility on Sunday, January 12, according to a statement from West Yorkshire Police.

The crash was reported to police at 6:19 a.m. on Sunday. Emergency responders arrived at the scene on Wheldon Road and discovered the car in a ditch within the water treatment plant. It was partially submerged in water.
Police have confirmed that the deceased teenager was from Wakefield in West Yorkshire. The water treatment facility was identified as the Wheldale Sewage Works.
Photos from the scene showed the damaged car leaning to one side and partly underwater. Emergency crews were seen carrying a stretcher nearby.
The identities of the teenager and the two arrested individuals have not yet been made public. The incident is being investigated by the Major Collision Enquiry Team.
