Just after 6:30 p.m. on December 25, Thames Valley Police responded to a stabbing report at an apartment on Santa Cruz Avenue in Bletchley, Milton Keynes.
Upon arrival, officers found the bodies of Joanne Pearson, 38, and Teohna Grant, 24. A teenage boy and a man in his late 20s were also found with serious injuries and were rushed to the hospital, where they remain in stable condition.
A dog was also hurt during the attack but thankfully survived, according to Thames Valley Police.
An investigation led to the arrest of Jazwell Brown, 49, on December 27. Brown, who lived on Santa Cruz Avenue, has been charged with two counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder, possession of a knife in a public place, and causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.
He appeared in High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on December 28, where he only confirmed his name, age, and address, according to the BBC. Brown is scheduled to appear in Luton Crown Court on December 31.
The community has been left shaken by the tragedy. “This is horrible on Christmas Day, and we are deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic events in Bletchley,” said Milton Keynes city councillor Shazna Muzammil on social media. She extended her condolences to the families, friends, and neighbors of the victims and noted that “the parties involved were known to each other.”
