A 22-year-old Oklahoma man, Jacob Mayhugh, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole after confessing to killing his mother, father, and sister in their home. By pleading guilty to the murders, Jacob avoided the death penalty, according to local news reports.
The Crime
On May 11, police found the bodies of Jacob’s parents, Patty and James Mayhugh, and his sister, Shayla Mayhugh, all of whom had been shot. Jacob was captured after a multi-day manhunt. Authorities stated that Jacob had planned the killings in advance, purchasing a rifle on April 25.
