These centers provide reproductive health services and alternatives to abortion. Prosecutors say she, along with three others—Caleb Freestone, Amber Stewart-Smith, and Annarella Rivera—vandalized several centers in Florida between May and July 2022.
The group targeted facilities like Heartbeat of Miami, which helps women facing unplanned pregnancies, and other centers in Hollywood, Hialeah, and Winter Haven.
They spray-painted threatening messages such as “YOUR TIME IS UP!!” and “WE’RE COMING for U” on the buildings. The group carried out these acts at night while wearing masks and dark clothing to hide their identities.
Federal prosecutors emphasized that such actions violate laws designed to protect the rights of individuals to seek and provide reproductive health services without fear of violence or intimidation.
U.S. Attorney Roger Handberg stated that threats against pregnancy centers won’t be tolerated, while Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke highlighted the importance of protecting access to all reproductive health services, including counseling on alternatives to abortion.
Jane’s Revenge, the group allegedly involved, has been linked to similar attacks across the United States. They describe themselves as a decentralized network encouraging acts of vandalism and violence against pro-life groups.
Some incidents include firebombings and other destructive acts. Senator Tom Cotton previously called on federal authorities to classify the group as a domestic terrorist organization.
Oropesa could face up to 10 years in prison and will be sentenced in March.
