Two women in Georgia who operated a daycare were arrested after they allegedly gave young children Benadryl and melatonin to make them sleep before nap time.

The tests revealed elevated levels of Benadryl and melatonin in two children, although the levels were not considered harmful.
Investigators believe that Young and Edge had been administering these substances daily to the children under their care since the children started attending the daycare in November 2023. However, the changes in the children’s behavior were not observed until almost a year later.
Additionally, it was found that Young was not licensed to care for more than two young children at a time. She received a cease-and-desist order on January 7, 2024, as the investigation continued.
On January 13, 2024, Young and Edge were arrested and charged with four misdemeanor counts of reckless conduct. They both posted bail of $5,200 and were released. The investigation into their actions is still ongoing.
