Police received a call about gunfire around 3:48 p.m. on December 24. Deputies arrived at a residence in the 100 block of Lee Road 2113 and found the two women, aged 18 and 19, unresponsive with gunshot wounds. The local coroner pronounced them dead at the scene.
Neighbors expressed shock at the incident, especially during the holiday season. Police say Holmes reportedly assaulted his mother at her nearby home before taking a handgun. He then entered the victims’ home, where the shooting occurred. Two 9-year-old twin girls who had been at the residence earlier left before the shooting and were unharmed.
A family member, Tyler Daly, started a GoFundMe campaign to raise $5,000 for funeral expenses. “My sister and step-sister were killed on December 24th by their neighbor. I’m just looking to cover end-of-life costs,” Daly wrote on the page. The fundraiser surpassed its goal by December 30.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths of Lynch and Daly.
